GUIDO FELIZZI

Currently I am the professor of Chamber Music at the Conservatory of Bologna where two years ago I filled the role as vice director. Previously I served in the same role at the Conservatory of Cagliari and Sassari. There I taught violin at the Conservatory of Cagliari and Chamber Music in some master classes.

For many years I served in the role of concertmaster for the Orchestra della Fondazione dei Concerti Del Teatro Lirico di Cagliari. In addition, I served as a guest concertmaster in many more orchestras such as Lecce (ICO), Sassari (Ente di Tradiz. “De Carolis”), Milano (Orchestra Verdi), Roma (Accademia di S. Cecilia), Parma (Fondazione Toscanini), Ferrara (Filarmonica Estense), Piacenza (Orch. Filarmonica italiana), Ancona (Fondaz. Orch. Regionale delle Marche), besides many more chamber orchestras . In my youth I attended the Youth Orchestra of European Community and was named the concertmaster for three years in a row for the Italian Youth Orchestra of Fiesole.

My wide experience as concertmaster allowed me to perform and work with the most important directors of the world. Among my collaborators are ABBADO, ASHKENAZY, BELLUGI, FRANCIS, MAAZEL, METHA, PRETRE, SWALLISCH, and many more. These opportunities led to performances all over the world at some of the most prestigious concert halls from the CONCERTGEBOUW in Amsterdam to the KONZERTHAUS of Vienna, from the Theatre ALLA SCALA in Milan to the LINCOLN CENTER of New York, from the CENTURY HALL of Tokyo to the OPERA in Paris. I also took part in the orchestra “Symphonic Toscanini”, the only Italian orchestra where Lorin Maezel served as the main permanent director.

For my entire life, I have been a chamber musician performing with the professional musicians in a duo piano, harp and accordion, but also with other chamber classifications, creating a string quartet called “Ichons”.

I studied direction with Bellugi in Florence and with Rabaglia in Rome, during these times
director of an orchestra on multiple occasions with chamber and symphonic ensembles.

In 1987, I graduated with high honors from the Conservatory of Cagliari where I studied Classical Composition for four years . Follow the Conservatory I pursued violin studies with G. Prencipe, historical concertmaster for the Orchestra of S. Cecilia in Roma. In 2008, I got my master degree with honors in Chamber Music at the Conservatory of Parma. Still today, I am the only Italian professor to hold this title while graduate in the same subject. I obtained two degrees in String Quartet at the Chigiana Musical Academy of Siena. Over the time I won three public national contests for violin, chamber music and quartet teaching in Italian conservatories.

My experience extends to the recording industry as well in the recording of multiple CD’s and DVD, as mainly of classical music but also pop music, as a solo violion, concertmaster, orchestra director , composer and technician of the studio. Additionally I compose music for various chamber music groups and orchestras. I transcribed and adapted the music of authors like Piazzolla, Horner, Morricone, Webber, etc. I took part in the important recording for RAI of “la Bibbia Giorno e Notte”, and I recorded over sixty tracks in a duo with Marco Lo Russo’s accordion for the TV channel SAT2000.
